LA SAUVAGEONNE Coteaux du Languedoc Les Ruffes 2006 (91 points, $16)

This rich, refined red is very pure-tasting, showing mineral, smoke, dried cherry and sandalwood flavors, with powerful undercurrents of currant and French roast. The long finish echoes spice and roasted meat. Best from 2009 through 2014. 1,000 cases imported.
